About Us

The Iowa Quality Center is a customer-focused, highly flexible and innovative organization that is the catalyst to transform individuals and organizations from good to great to excellent using the Baldrige Performance Excellence Framework.

Formed in 1993, the Woods Quality Center began as a shared vision of a total quality environment for the entire community, including business and industry, schools, government, nonprofit organizations, labor unions, and the service and retail industries.

In 2001 the name was changed to the Iowa Quality Center (IQC) as a result of a new state-wide focus on all areas of quality and performance excellence.

Today, IQC focuses on performance excellence across Iowa and continues to provide access to training and consulting services through our partner organizations. We are proud to run the Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence program and to represent members  from government, manufacturing, business, education, labor, retail, service, and healthcare organizations throughout the state.

Founded in 1987 by the Minnesota Legislature and Governor Rudy Perpich, the Performance Excellence Network (legally the MN Council for Quality, Inc.) is a nonprofit that advances improvement and performance excellence within organizations, individuals and communities in the Upper Midwest. PEN helps leaders identify strengths and improvement opportunities, and it builds networks that bring information, resources, knowledge and best practices to organizations desiring to improve. PEN serves nearly 200 members and organizations in Minnesota and the Dakotas.

The Baldrige Alliance for Performance Excellence facilitates organizational excellence and US competitiveness through state and regional Baldrige processes conducted by Members. Their key partner is the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program. The Alliance was incorporated in Arizona and received 501(c)3 non-profit status in 2005. The Baldrige Alliance serves Member Programs and other organizations wanting to improve using the Baldrige Excellence Framework.

The Baldrige Program oversees the nation's only Presidential award for performance excellence while offering a wide array of award-winning products and services, including the world-renowned Baldrige Excellence Framework.
