The Southwest Iowa Manufacturers Alliance for Quality, or SWIMAQ, was designed to capitalize on the opportunity to connect manufacturers throughout the Iowa Western Community College (IWCC) region. Manufacturers throughout the seven-county area served by IWCC belong to the alliance. Members of the alliance range from small entrepreneurial companies to large, Fortune 500 companies. A variety of industries are represented including food processing, industrial machinery, metal fabrication, and printing to name a few. The group meets quarterly to focus primarily on issues of quality and process improvement. Meetings include presentations and information from a variety of resources available to manufacturers in the state of Iowa. Each meeting is hosted by an area manufacturer, and includes lunch, networking breaks, and a tour of the manufacturing facility. SWIMAQ provides participants with an excellent opportunity for networking and sharing of best practices.
